In A Bitter Fall
03:44
|
|||
(in a bitter fall
grazes through the hall
bitter fruit to fall
ripple and recall
in a bitter fall
bursts into a sprawl
bitter fruit to fall
shrivelled down so small)
to bear no children
no lines to fill in
as wicked children
refuse to remain unborn
like colourless foam from an aerosol can
the spectre shivers and inflates
binding permanent to the warm earth
so tight to kill the kissing flames
to bear no children
no lines to fill in
as wicked children
refuse to remain unborn

Stareshelter
04:03
|
|||
ceilings are swallowed in twilight,
(i've stumbled in. you're a wandering thing)
so firmly clasping the architecture.
(what blustering the future’s let in)
below is cramping with statues,
(i've stumbled in. you're a wonderful thing)
faces so sunken they’re only etchings.
(they’re settling, as far as you think)
in clouds of
why won't you stretch out,
like a placid stare in a standing green?
like the shelters built in your carelessness?
weightless we swing through the skylight,
(you moan and sway. we’re exactly the same)
all animation convulsing upwards.
(what useful change the future has made)
more hollow forms flood the ground floor,
(your money’s paid. we’ve extracted the daze)
i turn away as they flow into you.
(i’ve settled down. i am comfortable now)
i turn away cause what else could you do?
in clouds of
why won't you stretch out,
like a placid stare from a thousand feet?
like the shelters built in your carelessness?

The Escapists
03:51
|
|||
i crawl back in the crevice again,
i’m a moth in this model home.
the light you leak paints blurry streaks
like a stained-glass sunbeam on a hidden eyelid.
the sidelines spill, all chalk all silt,
dislodged in a bone-deep yawning.
the stairwells spin, all needles all pins.
there’s someone here who’d like to meet you.
(i keep dreaming of a place where you and i can’t run away.
i see veins sprout from the flowerbed and climb to seal the windows off.)
now stirred awake, a mouth agape.
blank figures bend through the walkways.
their dull hands lunge. the song you’ve sung,
it burrows in our heads to build its furniture.
you glide in glares; i cannot bear
the sight of you still and sleeping.
i crawl right back. we’ve been attacked,
and softly i sing to the weapon.
(i keep dreaming of a place where you and i can’t run away.
i see veins sprout from the flowerbed and climb to seal the windows off.)

Dig Yourself Out
04:19
|
|||
dig your fingers into me
and dig yourself out
one hand in the river
the other stays clean
stirs in the energy runoff
a flow from the factory
still pouring pulp into the ocean
sullen fruit, poisoned and bruising
abused, abused.
reduced, reused.
we need colloidal silver
we need a psychic healer
we’re a time bomb in a windowless room
strewn with dressing gowns
pulverized to blisters
splitting into splinters
bubbling up in the corners of your eyes
and in the throes of your distraction
i’ll scatter the seeds all over this place
and in the throes of your distraction
i’ll collect into plasmic pasteurized grace
i’ll steal everything again
i’ll leave you wondering just how
i pulled off my latest spectacle
in the spirit of this game
and i pulled myself from the toxic ground
i’m just what you said i’d be
no guardrail, no guarantee
a guardian angel with neuropathy
a pixel of a picture of a distant place
too real to be undoctored
too pleasant to be fake
you’re an old secret!
you’re wired on a wing!
beginning again, again
